Product Details
The variety is a cross of Gamma ray (400 Gy) and mutant of Co (FS) 29. Co (FS) 31/ is multicut/perennial fodder sorghum, released from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, in 2014. The variety is recommended for cultivation in both irrigated and dry conditions and is suitable for any climatic condition in India. Seed rate is 4 kg per acre (spacing is 1x1 feet for single seeds). Irrigation takes 7ndash;9 days, depending on soil conditions. It gives 6ndash;7 cuts in one year at a 60-day interval (for the first harvest) and subsequent cuttings at a 30-day interval. It can be multicut for up to 4 years. The leaves and stem are highly succulent in nature. It has a very small leaf blade and fast growth. It contains high protein (9.86%), dry matter (24.9%), and less crude fiber (19.8%). The average yield of green fodder is 76ndash;79 t/acre/year. First weeding occurs 25ndash;30 days after sowing. After each harvest, a weeding may be given before fertilization.
